These fateful words embody the theme of the return of the Bordelon family in Sugar queenis the sixth season. OWN dropped the trailer for the upcoming installment on Tuesday, and the family drama picks up where it left off in Season 5.

Newlyweds Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) and Darla (Bianca Lawson) prepare to welcome a new baby while struggling to make ends meet. The desire to provide his growing family pushes Ralph Angel down a dark path he has sworn to leave behind. Nova (Rutina Wesley) hits her breaking point while continuing to speak out against police and political corruption, and finds unlikely support from a new neighbor, Dominic (McKinley Freeman). Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) explores political opportunities nationwide as she reunites with ex-husband Davis West (Timon Kyle Durrett) as her son Micah (Nicholas Ashe) grapples with university life amid the enduring effects of PTSD and his confusing relationship with his new fraternal brother (Marquis Rodriguez).

Tina Lifford returns as the long-lived matriarch of the family, Aunt Violet, who finds herself keeping her family a secret as her husband, Hollywood Desonier (Omar J. Dorsey), opens up a space for black men to come together and to talk about less superficial subjects. Meanwhile, longtime family friend and local farmer Prosper Denton (Henry G. Sanders) has an argument with the cops that brings him to the hospital, forcing his daughter, Billie (Tammy Townsend) , to return home for the first time in 20 years. Her return highlights long-held resentments and creates explosive tension within the Bordelon family as they strive to find joy in the midst of struggle and persevere despite all that life can bring.

Designer and executive producer Ava DuVernay continues her tradition of hiring a all-female management team, and Season 6 features five filmmakers making their television debuts. The season 6 lineup includes: Bertha Bay-Sa Pan, Carmen Marrón, Cierra Glaude, Keisha Rae Witherspoon, Marie Jamora, Shari L. Carpenter, Shaz Bennett and Stephanie Turner, with Lisa France as production manager.

Sugar queen Season 6 premieres Tuesday, September 7 at 8 p.m. ET / PT on OWN. The first four seasons are available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
