More than 6,000 pages of court documents used in the libel trial between Johnny Depp and Amber HeardY TheDailyBeast reports that Heard’s team claimed in pre-trial documents that the actress suffered financial losses ranging from “$47 million to $50 million” over a “3-5 year period” from Depp’s defamatory statements against her.

Heard’s legal team also argued that her stature as an actress was “comparable” to that of Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Zendaya, Ana de Armas and Chris Pine.

Elsewhere, newly unsealed court documents reveal Heard walked away from “tens of millions of dollars” by refusing to accept the money Depp earned from the fifth film of Pirates of the Caribbean. The sequel was filmed during Depp and Heard’s marriage, making it a “community-owned asset” and entitling Heard to half of the proceeds.

TheDailyBeast notes that Depp earned $33 million from the fourth film of Pirates…, so he probably matched that or made even more in a fifth movie. Heard refused to accept the money during the divorce proceedings, evidence of which was not used in the defamation trial.

According to TheDailyBeastthe documents also reveal that Depp’s team fought to keep Marilyn Manson’s name out of the libel suit. The team argued that “the Marilyn Manson references and evidence” “would libel Mr. Depp under a theory of guilt by association”.

Over the weekend, documents related to the lawsuit were unsealed and painted a picture of the respective sides of Depp and Heard trying to get as much evidence as possible.

In that framework, the conversations between Depp and Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, talk about the problems they are having with their relationships and how Manson could have needed Depp’s help.

Meanwhile, Heard’s team urged the judge to rule out a number of “irrelevant personal matters” that Depp’s team were reportedly going to bring up and use against him.

Heard’s team alleged that “Mr. Depp improperly seeks to present evidence” which included:

–“(1) Amber Heard nude photos; (2) the video from Amber Heard’s sister Whitney’s reality show; (3) Whitney and Amber’s past romantic relationships; (4) Amber’s brief stint as an exotic dancer years before she met Mr. Depp and Mr. Depp frivolously and maliciously intended to suggest or imply that Ms. Heard was at one time an escort.”

The defamation trial ended on June 1. Jury ordered Heard to pay $10.35 million in damages to Depp ($10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages) after ruling that she defamed him when he wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post 2018 alluding to his previous complaints of domestic violence.

While the jury in the verdict sided more with Depp, it ended up ruling that Depp defamed Heard in the course of fighting his charges. In fact, the jury awarded Heard $2 million in compensatory damages for her counterclaim.
