Neil Gaiman and ‘The Sandman’ cast set the scene for a possible season 2 (exclusive)

the Sandman It may have only premiered on Netflix last Friday, but fans are already looking to the future. It’s no surprise considering that the 10-episode series the long-awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic book series has finally hit the small screen after several failed attempts! And after an explosive season finale that leaves more problems than solutions, the biggest question is, will there be a Season 2?

Nothing has been announced, and Gaiman hesitated when ET questioned him. sandman Co-creator Alan Heinberg. But Heinberg teased that a “groundwork” has been set in case the opportunity for another installment comes.

“If we are asked to build one we are laying the foundations,” he said. “how about that?”

Gaiman said, “We’d love to be there Season 2… Right now, I’m like sandmanalan loves sandman [and] love david goyer sandman, we know the cast loves sandman Because they have seen it. I Just Ran Into Stephen Fry And He Told Me How Much He Loved sandman, Now, we need to see if that applies to the rest of the world or if it’s just us.”

It’s a sentiment the cast agrees with! The star-studded cast is said to include Tom Sturridge as Dream, Titanic Sandman, alongside Fry, Kirby Howell-Baptis, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Achempong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, David Thewlis, Jolie Richardson, Mason Alexander Park and The Voice. Work by Patton Oswalt and Mark Hamill.

“I hope everyone in the world watches Season 1,” Sturridge shared. “That’s my hope and dream, and as far as Season 2 is concerned, it’s well above our pay grade.”

Fry has more specific hopes, sharing that if the series goes to Season 2, he’d prefer less fighting.

“I always felt I had stunt abilities, I mean, he has a sword wand, but that’s just about one thing,” joked the actor. “Undoubted [getting renewed] would be a pleasure. Who knows what’s on their mind? But we first hope it builds an audience and people really enjoy it, and I think they will because it’s unlike anything anyone’s seen before.”

Gaiman echoed Fry’s attitude, saying, “Obviously, I want fans to have watched those first 10 episodes and are satisfied with all the twists and turns in the plot and to really understand what they saw. that they can’t have seen up to that point.”

“And I also want to set the scene for Season 2 because in Season 2, there’s going to be a Lucifer-Morpheus rematch and it’s going to be a stranger, darker, and a lot more disruptive Morpheus than anyone can imagine. t actually went out and read “season of mists” sandman comics,” he said.

“To me, the fact that people like Stephen … Stephen agreed to come on board and do it because he loves sandman, and the fact that everywhere in the world there are sandman The fans allowed us to punch above our weight as a show,” Gaiman shared. “We got people coming on board, we couldn’t pay them, but they came anyway because they are sandman fans and they wanted to be a part of it. We gave people time. I also heard recently, which I didn’t know, that some VFX guys were going above and beyond on VFX too, and they gave us something a little bit better because they were sandman Fans and they wanted their work to be the best that could possibly be.”

,[This story] There’s a lot of stuff that wasn’t told before on television. People know what hospital dramas or legal dramas and things have in common because they’ve seen them before. He has seen space operas. they didn’t see sandman, and the opportunity to do something really new on television, it doesn’t come very often, and we have to do it,” Gaiman concluded. “And we had to do it for ourselves because we didn’t know if anyone else was going to like it. Was gonna happen, but we knew we had to make something we’d love. And now, people are watching the episodes, and the reaction is honestly a little overwhelming, actually. And I’m like, ‘Okay, cool. We made it for ourselves, and they love it too.'”
