Wolf also shared how his loss reminded him of his father, who had won three Grammy nominations and one win over the course of his career.

Regarding his father’s Grammy nomination in 1985, he said, “Pop didn’t win when he was nominated for the first time, so I feel like I’m following in his footsteps.”

Bertinelli married in 1981, a year after meeting the great guitarist. They had been married for 26 years and remained close after their 2007 divorce.

He and Wolf were both by his side, along with his second wife, Jane Liszewski, and his brother, Alex Van Halen, when he had died a year and a half earlier.

‘I know for sure, for sure that Ed was part of that. I loved his soul very much.’
