The Weeknd demands Kanye’s $8.5M Coachella paycheck

The drama continues at Coachella.

Coachella organizers reportedly tried to tighten The Weeknd after they stepped in to replace Kanye West as Sunday headliner at the festival later this month.

We’re told the singer threatened her if she wasn’t paid the same amount of money as West, who was ready to rake in $8 million and $500,000 in production fees.

Page Six exclusively revealed that The Weeknd was Front-runner to replace “All of the Lights” rapperwho bailed out the gig less than two weeks before Showtime.

Coachella organizers announced early Wednesday that The Weeknd, 32, and house music supergroup Swedish House Mafia will take over the rapper’s slot on Sunday, April 17 and Sunday, April 24. But a music source told us the deal was not done yet. Performed for the singer “Blinding Lights”.

The source added, “The Weeknd came in short time for Kanye to take the top spot. But Phil Anschutz [who owns the Coachella Festival through AEG Live] Wanted to keep Kanye’s money and pay The Weeknd for very little, just a few million. The festival will pocket the rest. ,

He threatened to leave the festival if he didn’t make the same deal.

The move led to fractious talks this week between The Weeknd’s management and Goldenvoice, Anschutz’s company that produced the festival.

The source continued, “Even after the new lineup was announced by Coachella on Wednesday, a deal was not done for The Weeknd, which threatened to pull out at an hour’s notice if Kanye didn’t get a similar deal.

“Finally, on Wednesday — faced with the prospect of a second headline act exiting Coachella at the last minute — Anschutz’s company agreed to pay The Weeknd the same money.”

While Anschutz’s rep did not comment, a second insider said the billionaire AEG mogul was not personally handling the talks, it was handled by an employee.

A rep for The Weeknd did not return multiple calls for comment, and a representative for Kanye did not respond.

Earlier this week, Page Six exclusively reported that Kanye bailed out at the gig less than two weeks before Showtime because he “wants to get help” After publicly dragging ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend Pete Davidson on social media – which led to a 24-hour Instagram suspension and having it grammy performance ax,

“Kanye has definitely dropped out of Coachella,” an insider told us on Monday. “He’s not practicing or producing.”

Our source confirmed that Travis Scott, who shares two children with Kylie Jenner, “was about to get involved” [West] on stage.”

“Now it would be nearly impossible for him to put it together. Look for The Weeknd to replace him,” our source shared, “Kanye is holding back because he’s out of the public eye after all the drama with Kim and Pete. Wants to be outside; he wants to get help.”

Sources tell us that West, who shares four children with the SKIMS mogul, promised he would make “no public appearances or inflammatory social media statements” while he is “getting better.” Kardashian and West were declared legally single in the midst of their ongoing divorce in March.

“You are committed to a healthy co-parenting relationship with Kim and focusing on raising your beautiful children,” the Grammy winner’s rep told Page Six at the time.
