Cabello wrote, “Every time I go to this beach club in Miami I get pissed – somehow when I check in paps and get me in my bikini and every time I feel so weak and ready don’t think,” whose new album Familia Expires on 8th April. “I wore bikinis that were too small and didn’t care about how I looked, then saw pictures online and made comments and am so upset.”
“I reminded myself when it affected my self-esteem that I was thinking culture’s views, not my own. A culture that got used to the image of what a ‘healthy’ woman’s body looked like Gone, that’s totally not real for a lot of women. Photoshopping, restricting diets, over-exercising, and choosing angles that make our bodies look different from their natural looks the moment we take a deep breath When we eat, when we let the waves shake us around,” she said.
“I remind myself of this, listening to podcasts on intuitive eating, following women who accept their cellulite, stretch marks, belly, bloating, and weight fluctuations… and yet, I’m a single woman in my 20s like—a lot of promos and I want to feel like I look ‘good,'” Cabello admitted.
“Today I got a new bikini, in a totally pretty outfit, put on lip gloss, and didn’t eat anything heavy before going to the ocean because I knew it was going to be basically a perfect photoshoot,” Cabello wrote. “I held my core so tightly that my stomach hurt and couldn’t breathe and smiled hard and was so self-conscious about where I was the whole time and I couldn’t relax and when we used to What we used to do. Go out in nature. I tried to pretend they weren’t there, but I couldn’t and I held my breath in my sun chair in the ocean.”
The “Bum Bum” singer then described watching children play on the beach with “no self-consciousness” and said that her goal was to “make me feel like a 7-year-old on the beach” – “happy, Silly, breathing, pretending to be a mermaid, free.”
“I knew I looked ‘good’ in photos and thought I’d feel accomplished and yet I’ve never had a worse time at the beach,” Cabello said.
“I’m not yet at the point in my journey where I can’t give up af-the-,” she said.
Cabello’s Upcoming 12-Track Familia album Features collaborations with Ed Sheeran (“Bum Bum”), Willow (“Psychofreak”), María Becerra (“Hasta los Dantes”) and Yotuel (“Lola”).
