come to know, Renaissance Like the rest of the BeyHive, Lil Nas X is buzzing. On Wednesday (August 3), the superstar took to her Instagram Stories to express her appreciation for Beyoncé’s latest album.
“This Beyoncé album is kinda changing my life in some way. Unsurprisingly,” the rapper captioned a candid mirror selfie. “So much intention was put into it. She really deserves every single flower thrown at her. I’m not even deciphering.”
Fans are also loving Queen Bey’s acclaimed effort at dance and house music to pay tribute to ballroom culture, self-empowerment and her late uncle; album won BoardLast week’s new music poll with 57 percent of the vote.
However, the superstar’s album rollout hasn’t been without its fair share of controversy. First, the album leaked several days before its scheduled 29 July release. And when Beyoncé unveiled the studio set’s credits, Kelis took issue with sampling the icon from her 2003 single “Milkshake” in the album cut “Energy” without giving it a head. (Despite Kelis not being the copyright owner of the track, Bey appears to have begun removing interpolation from streaming versions of Beam-assisted tracks on Tidal and Apple Music.)
When Renaissance When formally released, disability advocates also called out the singer for using a competent slur in her song “Heated”, when Lizzo was similarly criticized for using the same words in her single “Grrls”. The reaction was met. While Lizzo has already changed the lyrics, Beyoncé has committed to removing the word from her song as well. However, there is no word yet on her reaction when Monica Lewinsky asked her to change the song to “Partition”.
