Jackson Wang says ‘Magic Man’ is more extreme than his previous work – Billboard

Jackson Wang revealed in a new interview on Tuesday (August 2) what fans can expect from his upcoming solo album Magic Man,

“It’s a little rock, a little grunge, a little bit pop. It’s a mix of everything,” the K-pop star revealed. People, “a lot of [the album] Driven by the process of me understanding myself, understanding my voice, understanding my visuals and what I really want to do. And that’s where I ended up.”

Prior to the singles “Brutal” and “Blow”, Wang promised that Magic Man “More extreme than all the stuff I’ve released in the past. And I think it’s because on this album, I’m at my rawest form that I’ve ever been in my career as a solo artist. I’ve been there, just not caring about who I was and all that I had. [I] Just want to go completely be me and without any filters.”

The Chinese singer’s sophomore studio set is set for release on September 9, four months after GOT 7 unveiled their twelfth Korean-language, self-titled EP. In January, Wang and his bandmates officially parted ways with longtime label JYP Entertainment after seven years under the company.

Later this month, Wang is set to headline at 88Rising’s 2022 Head in the Clouds festival with NIKI and Rich Bryan at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Other artists on the roster include Yebi Labs (Joji DJ Set), BIBI, Jay Park and. The debut of Chung Ha as well as the joint project of MXMToon, Audrey Nuna + Deb Never, EAJ, Atarashi Gako!, Miley and more.
