Beyoncé surprised fans again on Wednesday (August 3) when she released a 4-song “Break My Soul” remix EP featuring fresh versions of her. Renaissance Single by Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am, Chicago house legend Terry Hunter, global scene Queen Honey Dijon and New York producer/DJ Nita Evians. A collection of club royalty remixers is turning the dial on Beyoncé’s hottest dance album to date.
Bouncy Tech from BEP’s will.i.am. The song kicks off at its most original beat, while Hunter ups the tempo and turns the track into a dreamy house workout with Sunday church service organs. The nearly 10-minute version of Avians includes hypnotic, trance elements as it stretches the track to double its recorded length.
Honey Dijon’s six-and-a-half-minute remix adds more aggressive rhythm and tribal drums. Dijon – credited as a songwriter on Two Renaissance Tracks (“Casual” and “Alien Superstar”) — thanked Bey for including her on the album — in an Instagram post. “Beyond pride. Thank you @beyoncé For joining me in this musical journey. I am so honored and humbled to be a part of this masterpiece,” Dijon wrote while supporting some of the other contributors.
Writing on Instagram on Wednesday, Aviance also heaped praise on Bey’s adoption of house culture, “Saying that I’m giddy and honored doesn’t even begin to express; And doubly so for playing my part on a project that has my older sisters and protagonists @kevinavianceofficial And @honeydijon, anyone is coming @beyoncé Not real house music for the moment, the catch they got involved in. It’s for queens, dancefloor days, and all those who stay up late at night; See you at the club.”
