Will Marvel’s X-Men Reboot Be Before Avengers: Secret Warfare?

Marvel Studios brought a lot of glitz (and some heavy vibes) to its Hall H panel at Comic-Con 2022. Marvel unveiled the full Phase 5 schedule of movies and TV shows while teasing the climax of Phase 6. of this “Multiverse Saga” in Avengers: The Kong Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. There really was a lot of information out there for Marvel fans during that Comic-Con 2022 panel — and since then, there’s been a lot of new questions that need to be answered.

Marvel fans want answers to one of the biggest questions right now, how and when will the X-Men actually come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

ComicBook.com made sure that a question about the X-Men’s place in the MCU timeline was one of the first to be asked after Marvel’s Comic-Con 2022 presentation. Phase Zero podcast host Brandon Davis tries to at least close a window of time when we can expect the X-Men’s arrival in the MCU, by asking whether the plan should be called the appropriately named Phase Ten (or Had to wait till “Phase X”) ) to get them.

“You wanna wait until Phase 10 for the X-Men?” Feige replied. “Well, that’s longer than I’d like to wait. But I guess.”

Following the revelations of Comic-Con 2022, there are two main schools of thought about where, when, and how the X-Men will arrive in the MCU:

The X-Men Arrived Before the Secret Wars

Marvel Studios revealed the entire Phase 5 slate during Comic-Con 2022, but left much of the Phase 6 slate blank, except that it ends with Avengers: The Kong Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. There’s Plenty Of Room To Fill That Slate With A New X-Men Movie Project

It is also likely that Marvel Studios will introduce the X-Men to the MCU before Avengers: Secret Wars as the studio has already introduced the concept of mutants (or mutations) to the franchise during the Ms. Establishing mutants as a thing seems like a huge step toward introducing Mutantkind’s greatest heroes (the X-Men). The team has already been indirectly referred to in the MCU by Patrick Stewart’s Professor X appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We also know that Deadpool 3 is already in production with Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy. The X-Men’s seeds are already sewn into the MCU – it’ll be easier to harvest them sooner than later.

Fantastic Four is about to arrive in Phase Six — so why won’t the X-Men (the other Marvel property Disney bought from 20th Century Fox) be.

The X-Men arrived in Phase 7

Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con 2022 panel clarified that “The Multiverse Saga” of Phase 4, Phase 5 and Phase 6 is going to be much faster than the Infinity Saga that preceded it. And while it’s not said out loud, many Marvel fans have long believed that the whole purpose of the Multiverse Saga is to set the stage for a total soft-reboot of the MCU franchise.

A lot has changed since Marvel Studios began building its Juggernaut MCU franchise from the slow, humble beginnings of Phase I. Marvel has learned that even the best of plans have to be revised and the whims of fans could completely redefine the plan. The business realities that kept the X-Men and Fantastic Four out of the MCU have changed; And decisions like killing Iron Man and/or Captain America have become somewhat less popular since Avengers: Endgame.

The Marvel Secret Wars are stories about various Marvel Multiverse realities being brought together to fight for existence – the biggest fringe benefit of those stories is that they are the most important for Marvel Studios to retire any actor. Clear and easy narrative routes provide what the franchise wants to be done with. , Recreate or re-introduce those empty character slots, and completely re-introduce the “rules” of the franchise universe with any modifications they wish to do. So, while “Mutations” may have already been introduced to the MCU, the full roster of the X-Men and their worlds may be saved for the Phase 7 arc.

No Multiverse Saga Projects Before Avengers: Secret Wars Will Actually Present the New MCU , even if they won’t later actually become a part of the franchise. That’s all: Marvel may introduce a different version of the X-Men for the Multiverse Saga before the actual MCU reboot happens in Phase 7.
