Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have directed Chris Evans for most of his time as Captain America, though they are now choosing a different Marvel hero they’d like to see him portray. In addition to portraying Sentinels of Liberty, Evans also starred as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fox’s 2005 Fantastic Four and of 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, But when asked which Marvel character they’d like to see Chris Evans play in, Joe and Anthony Russo named Wolverine.
“If you had to work with Evans as a different character from another Marvel movie, Multiverse, who are you putting him in the movie as?” Brandon Davis asked Russo on the ComicBook.com Phase Zero podcast. After Davis clarified that Evans was to be a different character than Captain America, Russo replied, “Wolverine”, to which Anthony Russo acknowledged that it was a good call.
“Evans has incredible range and great physicality, and he’s really good at body control,” Joe Rousseau continued. “He’s an incredible actor. I don’t mean it in a bad way, but he’s nothing like Captain America. Steve Rogers is very controlling and calm, understated. Chris is energetic and funny and charismatic, and he’s very The energy Set brings. I’d love to see him do something like Wolverine.”
