Popstar Director Confirms “Never Say Never” Will Have a Sequel

Comedy group The Lonely Island brings their signature mix of wit and musical talents to the big screen Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which failed to make much of an impact at the box office, but earned a passionate following. Given the love the film has earned over the years, some fans are hoping there could be a sequel, and while co-director Akiva Schaefer recently confirmed that it’s not an idea that The group is actively working on what fans should “never say never” about the possibility of a follow-up. Schaefer recently directed Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers’Which is now streaming on Disney+.

“I would say, never say no. There’s no reason to, but I can’t lie and say we’re cooking something,” Shaffer revealed. Diversity, “But there’s no reason it couldn’t exist.”

In the mockumentary, Conner Friel (Andy Samberg) initially finds success with his musical trio Style Boys, but then proves himself to be a breakout hit. After his career fails, Conner is faced with reclaiming his signature sound with the help of a few unlikely collaborators.

These comments echo co-director Jorma Taccone’s sentiments that colleagues will likely seek new avenues rather than simply revisiting familiar territory.

Speaking of the Lonely Island, it takes so much effort for the three of us to leave what we’re doing that I think we want to challenge ourselves.” It’s the same thing for this series. We wanted it to be bigger and better, or at least not disappoint its true fans. It’s, I think, so close to our hearts in the way that I am Like, ‘Yeah, we have to do one more,’ kind of thing. But with pop star‘If I’ve done the Lonely Island stuff, I guess we’d want to try something new. Give people something new.”

with Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers’ Being such a hit, clearly audiences will be happy to see anything the comedian comes up with, without getting into any more exploits of the Style Boys.
