Top Gun: Maverick Officially surpassed the $900 million global box office mark. This is just the latest milestone for the Tom Cruise-starrer, making the film only the third film to hit that mark in the COVID-19 era. According to Hollywood ReporterAs of Monday, the film has a domestic box office of $474.8 million and an overseas box office of $427.1 million, taking the tally to another $901.9 million. it puts Top Gun: Maverick just behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness approximately $950 million globally and Spider-Man: No Way Home Globally at $1.9 billion.
The film can count for most of its success on repeated viewings. According to Paramount, more than 16 percent of the film’s audience has seen the film more than once and 4 percent have watched it four or more times. It is unclear whether the film will cross the billion mark, however, as THR has noted that the lack of releases in both China and Russia could result in an overall loss at the box office. That said, the film is still a huge success and continues to do well – it outperformed Lightyear last weekend. The film is already Cruise’s highest-grossing film in his entire career.
