Doctor Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch turned down the role of Thor

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Writer Teases New Love Interest for Third Movie

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Hit the theaters last week and it is an absolute hit. The film has already raked in over half a billion dollars at the box office, and there are no signs of slowing down. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as the Sorcerer Supreme for the sequel, and he’s currently doing the press rounds for the film. during a new interview with bbc radio 1Actor reveals he was once in contention for another Marvel Studios role Thor: The Dark World Before he eventually became Doctor Strange.

,[The Doctor Strange role] As an idea muted, funnily enough, another little dance I did for another character in the MCU, a very brief character,” revealed Cumberbatch. “I was bold enough to say , ‘I’m really happy to be invited to the party, but I’d rather stay out for something more juicy.'”

Cumberbatch was in talks to play the villainous Malekith in Thor: The Dark World before he eventually took the role. The actor will be cast as Doctor Strange and the rest is history. He has appeared in three of the biggest blockbusters of all time with Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it looks like the actor made the right choice. Doctor Strange has a huge future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and sequel writer Michael Waldron told us that some dark things are coming to the Sorcerer Supreme.

“This bill is about to come. As Wong says, ‘You used Darkhold to keep your own corpse.’ Certainly, there must be some consequence,” Waldron told ComicBook.com. “It was a little bit of a throwback [Raimi’s] The old Evil Dead, and that whine of the ending, or it’s just like, ‘Oh my god, things got bad in the end.’ So yes. We’ll see what this means for Stephen.”

“The multiverse has forced a mirror in front of his face, and forced him to do something self-reflective, I think he’s refused to ever do. Even when he came to that initial [car] Accident [in Doctor Strange], instead of really wondering who he was, he instead went and became the most powerful magician alive. This is a man who doesn’t want to go for treatment. I think now, there’s been some forced self-reflection during the course of this adventure, and I think he’s probably more capable than ever to work as part of a team.” In The Multiverse of Madness Scribd Doctor Strange added.

Marvel Studios describes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as follows: “To restore a world where everything is changing, Strange enlists the help of his ally Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, and the Avengers’ most powerful scarlet witch, Wanda. But a terrible threat looms over humanity and the entire universe that can no longer be tackled by their power alone. Even more surprising is that the greatest threat in the universe looks exactly like Doctor Strange.”

The film is directed by the legendary Sam Rami and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Professor Charles Xavier as Patrick Stewart will be Xochital Gomez as America Chavez. and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2022!
