Doctor Strange 2 composer reveals WandaVision inspiration for Scarlet Witch's new theme

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ musicians explain Wanda’s new theme and wandavision The inspiration for those moments in the film. Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is a big appearance in the latest MCU movie. He’s on a mission and that means it’s time for some music to signal his entrance. Danny Elfman sat down with ComicBook.com’s Adam Bernhardt to talk about the musical transformation from the world of Westview into this film’s multiverse sprint. Obviously, Marvel’s decision-makers wanted to remind people of the wildly popular DISney+ series. It is not difficult to understand. wandavision Totally captured the audience and wooed some viewers who might have been suspicious of the MCU as a whole. However, you can’t slap the exact same audio in there, so Elfman had to go about adapting the Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez song with some more edge.

“There was a moment with Wanda, even though Wanda had a new theme that I made up for her, they say, ‘Let’s pay tribute to WandaVision here.’ And I used the Lopez theme there,” Elfman revealed. “And all this stuff, I think it’s a really cool idea that they’re doing this. It’s fun. And I think the fans really like it.”

There was another musical touch on which the composer absolutely could not shed light. When one of the members of the Illuminati entered the chamber, the audience probably cheered everywhere. A musical nod to that time is something Marvel just isn’t ready to talk about.

“I know. I shouldn’t be talking about that. That’s the only thing I’ve been asked to do… because they’re still trying to keep it as little surprise other than saying, I really like the fact that Marvel loves to do these musical easter eggs,” he said. “Fans love things like this. I thought it was funny and ironic that at the same time I was scoring Doctor Strange, I was getting moments to keep the original theme of Michael Giacchino and Michael the Spider. -Man and he was looking for my original Spider-Man theme for a few moments in his score and we were doing that at the same time.”
