Disney’s D23 2022 announced animation and live-action showcase

Disney’s D23 Expo 2022 event has announced the first major panels and showcases that will debut during this year’s convention, including updates on the first Disney animation and live-action project. Confirmed by The Walt Disney Company in a press release today, D23 2022 will debut on Friday, September 9 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The event will begin with the traditional Disney Legends Awards ceremony, but will be followed by a showcase in the afternoon featuring content from Disney live action, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios. You can read the full details below.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m. PT, “guests will be provided with new details, first-looks, sneak-peeks, surprises and announcements about upcoming theatrical and Disney+ titles from Disney Live Action, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios.” Studio heads, filmmakers and actors will come together on stage with the inside scoop on some of these studio’s most exciting titles.” Given that the D23 Expo is only held every few years, it is likely that it will be used to highlight upcoming projects in the short term and Perhaps Tease those who are far away.

Considering films slated to release in late 2022 and early 2023, it looks like we’ll get news about the Haunted Mansion film, The Little Mermaid live-action remake, Peter Pan & Wendy, Pixar’s Elementals, Disney can. Strange World of Animation, and a host of Disney+ series projects.

A focal point of this year’s D23 Expo will also be announcements about plans for next year, which marks the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company (it’s “23”). It was earlier announced by the company that this year’s event will feature more livestreams than ever before for those who are unable to enjoy at home.

“While we know the “ultimate” experience is happening in person at #D23Expo, there are many Disney fans who can’t make it to the event. This year, we’ll be livestreaming more panels and presentations than ever before! We Will announce the full #D23Expo livestream schedule in the weeks before the big event!” The D23 Twitter account wrote earlier this year. “As we announced on #DestinationD23, this year’s #D23Expo show by @TWDCArchives will be a celebration of The Walt Disney Company’s upcoming 100th anniversary, and we’ll be sharing more about that in the near future. #Disney100”
