Danny Boyle reveals his canceled James Bond plans

no time to die, or as it had long been known, Bond 25, was a film that seemed doomed. Before star Daniel Craig was confirmed, it looked like he would not appear, at one point saying that he would rather have his wrist cut off than star in another Bond film. Eventually the actor became convinced, believing that a garbage truck full of money had pulled into the driveway, with Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle attached to helm the feature. As development continued, however, the second major wrinkle came after Boyle split with EON Productions. After his departure, the film’s script was completely rewritten, resulting in the film we now have, but until now it has never been stated what Boyle’s idea would have been.

“I remember going, ‘Should I really be joining the franchise?’ Because they really don’t want anything different,” said Boyle. Esquire UK About working in film. “They want you to refresh it a little, but not really challenge it, and we wanted to do something different with it. Weirdly — it would have been very topical now — it was all set in Russia, which definitely Bond is essentially what came out of the Cold War. It was set in present-day Russia and goes back to its origins, and they just lost, what’s the word… they just lost faith in it… it really I was ashamed.”

Boyle confirms there’s one thing left of his version in Final Cut no time to die, he would become Bond’s father. “The idea they used in a different way was one of the [James Bond’s] child, introduced by (screenwriter John Hodge) [and which] Was amazing.” When asked if he would consider another swing at batting with the Bond franchise, Boyle simply replied: “I don’t think so.” He said he still has some ideas of what he needs to do. Guess I should name. Your papa can destroy Essidu and Batman Star Robert Pattinson as his favourite.

It’s still going to be some time before we know who the next James Bond will be, partly because the conclusion of No Time to Die means another hard reboot is definitely in the cards. “It’s a big decision,” producer Barbara Broccoli previously told Variety of the role. “It’s not just casting a role. It’s about completely rethinking where we’re headed. I’m just here celebrating one of the greatest actors on the planet, Daniel Craig.”
