“Morbius” film premiere postponed

MEXICO CITY.— Sony Pictures will again postpone the premiere of one of its most anticipated films, “Morbius,” starring Jared Leto, which will postpone its official release by three months, the study confirmed.

The film, which is part of Sony’s cinema universe “Spider-Man”, will now be released on April 1, 2022 instead of January 28, as originally planned.

It’s not the first time “Morbius” has had to postpone its premiere: the film was originally scheduled to debut on July 10, 2020, but the pandemic has forced plans to change.

As the health crisis has spread, production went through several premiere dates: It was scheduled for July 31, 2020, then March 19, 2021 and October 8 of the same year. This is yet another example of the devastation of the Omicron variant in show business.

At its premiere, “Morbius” will play the comedy “Easter Sunday” with Jimmy O, Yang and Tiffany Haddish as well as Chris Pine’s thriller “The Contractor”.

Sony just landed the big box office hits with “Spider-Man: No Road Home” and “Venom: Carnage Freed”, so it makes sense to give “Morbius” more space.

Jared Leto plays the antihero Michael Morbius, who finds darkness in him during an experiment with his blood.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa and the cast is completed by Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson.
