Hulu’s limited series first trailer, mikeFall has fallen, and it’s clear that there’s a lot to unpack when it comes to Mike Tyson’s roller-coaster life.
The trailer is the first look at Trevante Rhodes following a spectacular transformation, portraying the former heavyweight champion of the world in the upcoming eight-episode drama, which premieres on August 25. Led by a team led by Margot Robbie I, Tony The limited series promises to explore the wild, tragic and controversial life and career of what Hulu calls “one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture.”
The trailer begins with Rhodes’ character looking in the mirror (face tattoo and all) before dueling a young Tyson in a fight with the neighborhood kids. She is then shown to be in the prime of her life, but it is clear that not everything is as rosy as it might seem. The trailer goes on to explore some of his most endearing relationships, such as the long-standing one he developed with his trainer-turned-legal guardian, Cus D’Amato, who predicted Tyson would one day be world champion. Will happen.
But some of his more turbulent relationships are also broken, such as his short-lived marriage to actress Robin Givens and his love-hate relationship with boxing promoter Don King. There is also a glimpse of one of the most controversial matches in boxing history, when Tyson chewed on a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear in 1997.
The Hulu series continues to grow despite Tyson completely destroying the series. Although Tyson had been briefed about him before the series appeared, he was not involved in any capacity. Back in February 2021, the former boxer issued a statement criticizing the project. Declaring the series “unofficial” and “unfortunate” in a statement to ET, Tyson said he was not surprised by the miniseries announcement.
Tyson’s “authorized” biographical limited series was announced in March 2021 and stars Jamie Foxx in the titular role. Foxx will also executive produce with Tyson, Martin Scorsese and director Antoine Fuqua.
