Meryl Streep – she’s just like us.
In a new Zoom interview with the cast of Don’t look upShe revealed she’s watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The admission came as a surprise not only to us, but also to her co-stars, most notably Ariana Grande and self-proclaimed Bravo superfan Jennifer Lawrence.
“It’s life… it’s right now. It’s happening right now. And what shall I do? I go in and watch The Housewives of Beverly Hills. I do,” she admitted.
Streep went on to joke that he could watch The real housewives is their motivation for the fight against climate change.
“When I saw the film I was just blown away and said [to director Adam McKay], “Give me a checklist. Give me the first three things we need to do,” she continued. “This movie is so stimulating in a weird way because you come out and you’re like, ‘OK, now, fuck it. We have to pay attention to that. Everything follows from that. If we don’t survive, we can’t watch housewives or what ever.'”
The drama stars Lawrence as astronomy student Kate Dibiasky and Leonardo DiCaprio as her professor, Dr. Randall Mindy, who join forces after discovering that a comet is about to hit Earth. The two then embark on a huge media tour to warn humanity of an approaching comet – but not many people seem to care, including the President of the United States, played by Streep.
ET spoke to Lawrence at the film’s premiere in December, where she had nothing but praise for her three-time Oscar-winning co-star.
“I mean, Meryl Streep really is the greatest actress that ever lived, and seeing her in person only confirms that,” Lawrence marveled.
However, it wasn’t Streep who most impressed Lawrence.
“I think I was more impressed when I was with Ariana Grande,” Lawrence admitted. “Because our worlds don’t really collide with the musicians and what they do is so different.
“I mean, I sound similar, don’t get me wrong — better in fact,” Lawrence quipped, jokingly adding that she has her own album in the works. “I’ll come out with something, you’ll see.”
The drama also features a slew of stars including Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett and Tyler Perry. Rob Morgan, Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman and Kid Cudi are also there.
