“I’ve spent more than half my life in the wrestling or sports-entertainment ring, so I can still see it all in my mind and in my heart I want to be out there,” he continued. “But it’s only at a point where my body can’t deliver what my mind and heart see.”
Calaway, 56, stated he was “not wanting to cheapen this character’s legacy”.
“And I would hate it if people pay money to see me work and be disappointed,” he added.
Whereas Calaway might not be returning to the ring anytime quickly, the longtime icon admitted that his 9-year-old daughter Kaia might have an curiosity in wrestling sooner or later – though he is not precisely satisfied of the concept.
“Of all of my children, she’s probably the one I need to watch most closely to follow in Daddy’s footsteps,” stated Calaway – who Kaia shares with Mrs. Michelle McCool and the daddy of two different daughters and a son from earlier marriages.
“She knows her stuff and can probably tell you more about today’s product than I can,” he stated of his youngest daughter. “She’s really in tune with what’s going on.”
That being stated, Calaway admitted that if it was a dream she was genuinely dedicated to, he would not essentially get in her method.
“I mean if it’s in her heart and that’s what she really wants, one day I’ll do my best to train her, of course her mom will too. But we’ll see what happens”, he stated. “We still have a long way to go before we worry about it.”
