In the end, it wasn’t in the Emmy card this is us‘ Final chapter.
The hit family drama, which completed its six-season run on NBC in May, has expected a big sendoff at the Emmys this year. But on Tuesday morning, the Television Academy had other plans, leaving the show and its cast almost entirely open — for nominations for an original song written by Mandy Moore’s husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and composer Siddharth Khosla.
Many thought that Moore, whose heart-wrenching performance as Rebecca in the final season garnered praise from audiences and critics alike, deserved to receive a final Emmy nomination as she and the cast parted ways. Was. But alas, Moore’s omission in the lead drama actress category was evident after the nominations were revealed. The series, which received over 30 Emmy nominations and four wins during its run, also failed to receive a Drama Series nomination.
Later on Tuesday, the 38-year-old singer-actress addressed on Instagram this is us‘ The surprising Amy quipped at her stories.
“So proud of @siddkhoslamusic and @taylordawesgoldsmith to receive an Emmy nomination for their song ‘Forever Now’ on our final season of #ThisIsUs,” wrote Moore, congratulating the two on their achievement.
“Do I want our show to be recognized as what I think its [sic] finest hour? Sure,” he admitted. “And Philiana Ng Dan Fogelman’s Brilliant Writing for Season 6 (Hello the Train)? @kenolin1’s impeccable direction? Our crazy, wildly talented cast and crew? Yeah… but nothing can take away how many people our show was meant to be (us included). It is an incredible legacy to be a part of. I will be forever grateful.”
Fogelman also acknowledged his lack of Emmy love for the show’s swan song.
“Not Broken for the Emmy Noms” #this is us Today – If you’re happy when they go your way, you have to take it on the chin when they don’t. That whole group wins ‘Danny’ in my book,” he wrote on Twitter. @SiddKhoslaMusic Will repeat us with Taylor!”
