Mama June is living her life to the fullest with a new man, supporting her recovery process and her career.
The reality star sat down with ET’s Deidre Behar, and opened up about the new man in her life, Justin Stroud, whom she says fans will see “a lot” in the upcoming season of her show, Mama June: Road to Redemption, However, she says that the best thing about Justin is that he is not in their relationship for any kind of fame.
“He didn’t know what to start with, honestly. He didn’t know,” she shared. “And she told [the producers]’No, I don’t want to be a part of it. I don’t want to do this.’ He had a full time job. He owns businesses. He has his own life.
“So it’s been kind of an adjustment for him, but he’s like, ‘F**k it.’ He got stuck in it, so he’s like, ‘Let’s ride,'” he added.
According to the reality star — who has been on TV for over a decade — Justin hadn’t heard of her before they started dating — which began after a chance meeting.
“We just started chit-chatting, and I started following him,” he joked. “Everyone always says he’s a mighty chaser. F**k, I was chasing him!”
“People don’t know. When me and Justin first met, I went to his house with him. We both had different houses, but I ended up living with him. And no, he’s definitely a bully chaser No. He does his own stuff. I do my stuff myself, but we do a lot of things together,” she said.
Like Mama June, Justin is “recovering” and they both used their shared experiences to help each other stay healthy and calm and happy.
“You just have to be supportive. There are days, because just because something’s going to be clean doesn’t mean it doesn’t turn out to be peaches, flowers, and rainbows,” she shared. “So when you have those days, you just have to tell the person, like, ‘Hey, I feel off today. I’m feeling down. I’m sorry. I’m in my head today. ‘ And you have to find someone who understands.”
“A lot of people say, ‘Well, two can’t be together to be well.’ Well, that’s a lie,” Mama Jun said. “We’re going to prove it… we’re back to hell. We’ve known each other for a year. Most relationships don’t go through the hurdles we’ve had to go through in the past year, they’re our relationships. Don’t go through this even in our lifetime. So I honestly think, it has made us stronger.”
Mama June explained that her boyfriend is “helping to piece together”. [of me] Back together, because like I told her, I’m broken.”
Mama June: Road to Redemption Returns to WE TV on Friday, May 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
