LL Cool J has withdrawn from his previously announced Dick Clark’s New Years Eve Rockin ‘Eve Performance on ABC after positive test for COVID-19.
the NCIS: LA Star and rappers were scheduled to take the stage for the live broadcast on Friday night from Times Square in New York City.
“I know it’s disappointing for the millions of fans, but my test came back positive for COVID, which means I can no longer perform as planned in NYRE,” confirmed LL Cool J in a statement to ET on Wednesday. “We were ready and I was really looking forward to ringing the bell in my hometown in a special way in 2022, but now I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. The best is yet to come!”
Chlöe, which was also previously announced as NYRE Performers for the show hosted by Ryan Seacrest will no longer perform from Times Square. ET reached out to Chloe’s representative to clarify why.
NYRE continues as planned on Friday from 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
In addition to Times Square, performances are broadcast from a variety of locations – including Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Puerto Rico.
Currently, Journey and Karol G are scheduled to perform from Times Square, while LA will have a range of appearances from AJR and Daisy the Great, Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, Big Boi and Sleepy Brown, D-Nice, Don Omar and Nio Garcia, French Montana, Macklemore with Ryan Lewis and Windser, Mae Muller, Måneskin, Masked Wolf, One Republic, Polo G and Walker Hayes. Daddy Yankee will take the stage from Puerto Rico while Billy Porter from New Orleans will perform.
