On the heels of the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, Laura Prepon is saying that although she once made the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy, it was His Like.
That ’70s Show The star took to Instagram and recalled “one of the worst days” of her life when she made the decision to end the pregnancy in the second trimester.
“The devastating truth is that we found that the fetus would not live to full term, and that my life was in danger as well,” she wrote her caption, “At the time – I had the choice.”
Prepon continued, “Everyone has their own story to seek for this medical procedure and I sympathize with anyone facing this impossible decision. I’m praying for all of us, that we can get through this.” Be able to get through challenging times and gain agency on their own bodies.”
The 42-year-old actress spoke out just days after the Supreme Court ended nearly 50 years of federal abortion rights. But this is not the first time that Prepon has shared her heart-wrenching story. She first revealed the story in 2020 in her book, You and I as mothers.
Prepon said she became pregnant in 2018, when she and her husband, Ben Foster, welcomed their daughter, Ella, in 2017. But her sonogram at 16 weeks revealed heartbreaking news — a condition called cystic hygroma, a congenital malformation of the lymphatic system.
“Our neonatologist told us the brain was not growing and the bones were not growing,” she wrote. “We were told that the pregnancy would not go to full term and there was more risk in my body.”
“Ben caught me crying,” she shared. “We had to terminate the pregnancy.”
dancing with the Stars Prof Cheryl Burke also spoke about her experience at the age of 18 following the Supreme Court ruling.
“I am saddened by this morning’s news, and it is heavy in my heart because I had a miscarriage when I was 18.” Burke said in a TikTok video. “If it weren’t for places like Planned Parenthood, I would be a mom.”
Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow Walker, also opened up about her choice in 2020.
“There are countless women who have struggled to make the decision to have an abortion,” she said. in his post, “I too struggled with the choice in 2020, when the world was collapsing during the pandemic, I sought abortion. It’s a very personal and personal experience – just the way it should be.”
