The reality star first wore one of the late actress' gowns to the 2022 Met Gala.

Kim Kardashian re-airs Marilyn Monroe! The 41-year-old reality star revealed on Instagram on Friday that after wearing a gown by the late actress to the Met Gala, she switched to Monroe’s iconic look.

Kardashian wrote alongside the photos, “To end my night out after The Met, I had the honor of changing into Marilyn Monroe’s Norman Norell dress she wore to the 1962 Golden Globes – where she was nominated for World Film Favorite Henrietta Award.” Her and Monroe in gowns.

“In my quest to find Jean Louis’ hand-beaded dress that I wore to the gala, I searched @heritageauctions owned by Marilyn’s iconic green sequined gown,” she continued. “Further in my research I found that the Golden Globes I received that evening were owned by none other than my friend @jeffleatham. I saw this as a sign of the way all the stars aligned.”

in a previous interview with the trend, Kardashian shared that she has a replica of a Monroe dress, but didn’t reveal her plans to wear another original. “I have a replica of the dress I wore to the Oscars in 1962,” she told the magazine, explaining that she was actually referencing the Norell gown. “I think I can wear it to eat pizza in my hotel room.”

Concluding her post, Kardashian wrote, “It will forever be one of the greatest privileges of my life to channel my inner Marilyn like this on such a special night. Heritage Auctions, Barbara Zweig And thanks to Jeff for helping. Make this memory possible.”

In the comments section, Chrissy Teigen explained the difference between the way women wear gowns, writing, “Wait so Marilyn didn’t put her arms through the armholes!? Iconic lol.”

“No!!!” Kardashian replied. “Haha. I tried it that way but it didn’t look that good on me.”

Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, also commented, writing, “You are amazing!!!!”

The reality star’s second Monroe look came when she wore the gown the actress wore to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. However, she was initially devastated to find that the dress owned by Ripley’s Believe It or Not didn’t fit.

“I have the utmost respect for the dress and what it means for American history. I would never sit in it or eat in it or be at any risk of harm and I would not wear this kind of body makeup. I usually do,” she said. “Everything specifically had to be on time and I had to practice walking up the stairs.”

Since Kardashian’s post about Monroe’s Golden Globes dress, however, questions have arisen online about how it could have been zipped when Monroe’s “Happy Birthday” dress couldn’t.
