Julianne Hough returns to Dancing With the Stars to judge the Season 30 Finale (Exclusive)

Julianne Hough returns to the Dance with the stars Ballroom! The long-time professional will again be behind the judges’ table at the finale of the 30th season of the show.

Julianne will stand up for her brother, judge and former DWTS Professional Derek Hough, who is still in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 last Tuesday.

ET has learned that while Derek is quarantined and recovering, he will still be a part of the show, performing both virtually and in a pre-recorded segment.

Julianne is twofold DWTS Champion – won mirrorball trophies in succession for seasons four and five – and then returned as a judge for several seasons before leaving the show in 2017.

ET spoke to a number of contestants and their pro partners over the weekend as they rehearse for Monday’s finals, and there was a lot of excitement over Julianne’s return.

Pro Jenna Johnson – who led the season with celebrity partner JoJo Siwa – told ET that she was “so excited” by the news.

“Julianne is the reason I started ballroom!” Johnson shared. “So that she has this final as a judge just means the world.”

Cheryl Burke – the pro partner of celebrity peloton trainer Cody Rigsby – was equally enthusiastic, telling ET, “I’ve known Julianne since she was 10, so we’re going way back.”

“It’s always nice to have old contestants or old professionals on our show and judge. So she’s great and knows what to look for,” said Burke. “She’s a great replacement for Derek so I’m really excited.”

On Tuesday, just a day after serving as a judge in the ABC show’s semifinals, Derek announced that he had tested positive for a groundbreaking case of the coronavirus.

“Although I am fully vaccinated, I have just been diagnosed with a groundbreaking case of COVID,” he revealed in a video posted on his Instagram. “I just found out and I’m fine. I feel strong. I am currently taking advice from medical professionals to get better as soon as possible. I am currently in quarantine.”

Hough assured fans, “I’ll make sure you all stay tuned, but I just want to send my love to everyone. Stay safe.”

Earlier in the season, Burke announced that she and Rigsby tested positive for COVID-19. They were forced to perform one of their dances virtually before being allowed to return to the ballroom the following week.

the Dance with the stars The finale will air on Monday, November 21st at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
