Joni Mitchell receives Person of the Year award at star-studded ceremony

The days before the Grammy Awards have always included educational talks, panel discussions and the Special Person of the Year award, which was announced this year to go to Joni Mitchell.

The Person of the Year is presented by the MusiCares Foundation and is a lifetime achievement award, presented for a combination of inspiring artistic achievement and philanthropy. In addition, the traditional awards ceremony raises funds for programs from the Musicians, a charity of the Recording Academy that provides health and wellness services to musicians in need.

Past honorees have included the likes of Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton and Aerosmith.
