John Oliver is thrilled to win his sixth consecutive Emmy for his HBO collection, Final week tonight with John Oliver.
“Last year I was completely on my own when we won, so it’s good to at least look at your face and your body,” Oliver advised ET’s Kevin Frazier after his large Emmy evening on Sunday, referring to finally 12 months’s principally digital ceremony.
Oliver admitted that the previous few years have offered him with top-notch comedic materials for his present, whereas admitting that he would even be okay with fewer feedback or calls.
“I guess you could say that. I really wouldn’t be complaining if the universe gave us less – on a human level or even on a comedic level,” he concluded. “It’s good to write jokes this year rather than last year. Last year we were at a point of abject desperation.”
The 44-year-old host mentioned it meant “a lot” to have a good time Final week tonight‘s Emmy wins, primarily as a result of they could not be in the identical room collectively. “We’ve been so isolated for a year and a half, it’s just amazing to be in the same physical space with them, at least for one night.”
And Oliver confessed that he “really hopes to go to bed” after the Emmys when requested if he and the workers have any celebratory plans that evening.
With Final week tonight when his final episode aired final in August, Oliver mentioned that “that’s a good question” to ask about his future because the present director. (His contract was renewed till 2023 final September.)
“I haven’t got a Conan [O’Brien], 30 years in me, that is for certain, ”he mentioned, referring to O’Brien’s three many years as a late-night host.
Final week tonight gained his sixth Emmy within the Excellent Selection Speak collection on Sunday, sweeping the class since 2016.
