Jenna Johnson reacts to husband Val Chmerkovskiy possibly leaving “Dancing with the Stars” (exclusive)

Jenna Johnson is unwilling to leave her husband Val Chmerkovskiy Dance with the stars. Chmerkovskiy recently told ET’s Lauren Zima that this season of the ABC dance competition show was “likely” his last.

What his wife thinks about it, Johnson spoke to ET during a camera-lock rehearsal for this week DWTS Finale, admitting she wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the show.

“I hope it isn’t [the end]. I think he is the best male dancer on the show and I can say that with great confidence and pride, ”Johnson said of Chmerkovskiy. “I think we’ve seen a lot more of him that I would love to see.”

However, if Chmerkovskiy doesn’t want to return, Johnson added, “I will definitely support him. And I think it will be fun for him to try new things that he wants to do. He’s the most artistic person I love to see him act, direct, make music but yeah we’ll see. I really hope it’s not because he’s so good at dancing. “

Regardless of Chmerkovskiy’s decision, Johnson plans to keep dancing on the show.

“I will definitely be here again. It will be different [without him]but I think it would be great too, “she said.” I love doing different projects of each other where we can support and help each other, where we can thrive. So I know he would be really invested in my season, just like he is now. But I’m not done dancing with my husband on this floor yet. Not finished yet.”

Earlier this month, Chmerkovskiy opened up the opportunity not to DWTS after he and his partner in season 30, Olivia Jade, dropped out during Janet Jackson Week.

“I’ve always been very clear about getting back on the show. I love the show. I love being on it. I’m so grateful for the opportunity, is this my last season?” he thought. “Probably. Probably. I have no regrets about my tenure on the series. I don’t regret the season. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to end it. “

Chmerkovskiy added that his decision had nothing to do with his treatment or time DWTS.

“There are no burned bridges, there is nothing but gratitude, back to the production, to the show,” he explained. “I hope I’ve served the show and this show has definitely changed my life. So it’s mutual love and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Chmerkovskiy first appeared on the ABC dance show’s second season in 2006, but began competing with a partner on the show’s 13th season in 2011. It wasn’t until the show’s 20th season in 2015 that he partnered with Rumer Willis and won his first Mirror Ball trophy. His second came in 2016 on season 23 with Laurie Hernandez. Chmerkovskiy’s brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, also served as a pro partner DWTS for several seasons.

Meanwhile, Johnson and JoJo Siwa are still in the running to take home a mirror ball trophy. The finale of this season of DWTS aired Monday at 8 a.m. / 7 p.m. Central on ABC.
