The 'Late Late Show' host opened up to ET at an FYC event about his impending exit as host of his talk show.

James Corden admits his decision to leave as host late late show It was “really tough” to make, but he stands by it and is proud of what the show has achieved during his tenure.

The comic actor and host spoke with ET’s Nischelle Turner Tuesday at an FYC event for the talk show in Hollywood, and she opened up about her recent announcement that she’s only signed on to host for one more year. , and will then depart the talk show.

Corden explained the thought process behind their announced future exit, saying, “I felt like maybe we’ve done enough? Maybe we can do everything we wanted to do.” “When I took the job — at first, I didn’t think we’d be on the air after six months. Then as soon as it felt like we’d be on the job for a while, I was very determined that the show wouldn’t end this any longer.” Kind welcome and we’ll always know when to go. We’ll always know when to go to the top, because I think that’s really important.”

While he seems to have made a mark with his timing, it didn’t make the decision any less difficult.

“It was really hard, and, you know, family decisions and all that sort of thing. But I couldn’t shake it, maybe if I try and back myself somehow… There may be more adventures, there may be another trip that I might be capable of,” Corden explained. “I’ll never know if I live under its protection, you know?”

Corden says he’s “really excited” about the future, and he also feels lucky to get the chance to hang out on his own terms.

Corden shared, “Anyone has to make decisions? Certainly not in this industry. Who ever gets to make their own decisions? Never.” “And you’ll never know [what is waiting for you] Unless you just take a run and jump.”

“When I took the job, I remember saying to my friends, ‘I’ll regret doing something rather than doing nothing.’ Now I feel the same way.”

Corden said hosting the show has been “the best time of my life” and reflects on how his life has changed since he first took his place behind the desk.

He said, “I have made friendships that I will have forever, I have changed a lot in the time that we did this show.” “My family has become a family here in Los Angeles. I have an American daughter. This whole adventure has changed my life in a way I never imagined.”

He also had a reminder for fans who were dismayed about his impending departure: “We also have, like, 194 shows to go!”

“I’m looking forward to the next year of my show,” he shared. “All I can tell you is that anyone who likes our show or can watch our show or wherever they can catch our show – our full intention is to go completely out of the way for the next 10 months. We want to leave the way we came in.”

After all the years they’ve done the show, there’s still one celeb hoping to interview or possibly, even ride for an installment of “Carpool Karaoke” — and that’s clear. Definitely Beyonce.

When asked how he plans to persuade her to come forward, Corden laughed, “I guess it’s up to her. I don’t think anyone tells Beyoncé what to do.” “

“But if she’s looking, she knows where to find us,” he said. “It would be amazing to do. I’m sure it would be really cool. I know it will happen, so we’ll see.”

In the meantime, Late Late Show with James Corden Airs weeknights at 12:35 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
