It Happened To The Beatles And Many Others As Well

Since the nominations for the Grammy Awards were announced last year, everyone believed Justin Bieber had a good chance of winning as many statuettes as he had 8 nominations. Also, he was supposed to sing live at the ceremony, which is a nod from the organisers. However, he had to face defeat in all the categories.

What many stat-lovers have discovered now is that he wasn’t the first artist to go 0-for-8 at the Grammys. Several stars, including Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay-Z, have suffered similar losses in recent years. And even the Beatles suffered the same fate in 1966, with Lennon losing 0-5 and Paul 0-9.

McCartney Case: 0-9

In 1966, when the Grammys had no television and only an announcement inside the halls of the recording industry, the Beatles had nine nominations for their 1965 album, help!, When Beatlemania was all the rage in the world. but lost in all fields where he was nominated. Fortunately, few people realized this at the time because the impact of the awards was not massive. The Grammys only gained popularity with TV in 1971.

One explanation, as strange as it sounds, was that Paul McCartney was the big loser at the 1966 awards and not his group, the Beatles. Spinning thin, it is revealed that McCartney’s nominations include Record and Song of the Year yesterday, which he sang (though composed by Lennon-McCartney). Breaking it down, John Lennon lost 0-5 that year, another fact that is unbelievable today.

Also appeared in three other categories involving Paul’s interpretation yesterday: Best Male Vocal Performance; Best Contemporary Single (R&R); and Best Contemporary Vocal Performance (R&R), Male. Yes, the ballad was nominated in the rock and roll categories. Extraordinary.

Justice done a year later: The Beatles wins Song of the Year Michelle And two years later he took home the Grammy for Album of the Year Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

From that case it became clear that the cast left out in one version of the Grammys included superstars who went on to be the biggest winners on other occasions. For example Stevie Wonder, who has won 25 awards in his career; Kanye West and Jay-Z, each of whom have won 24; and Paul McCartney, who won 18.

Don’t Forget About Billy Elisho

Beyond Justin Bieber’s 0-8, there was another favorite this year that turned out to be a big loser: Billie Eilish, who had nominations in categories like Recording and Song of the Year. Thus, although she has broken records in recent years to win awards at such a young age, this time at 20 years old, she is the youngest artist to achieve 0 out of 7 at the Grammys.
