Vanessa Bryant is calling Meek Mill over controversial lyrics to a recent song. Vanessa took to her Instagram story Monday to share some strong words about the lyrics, which refer to her late husband, Kobe Bryant.
The leaked song “Don’t Worry” has been provoking the ire of fans for days as has been circulating online, but Vanessa turned up the heat with her comments directed at the artist, calling the lyrics of her song “extremely insensitive.”
In “Don’t Worry,” Mill raps, “This bitch I’m fucking always telling me she loves me, but she never showed it to me / Yeah, and if I ever miss it, I’m going out with my helicopter, it will be another Kobe. “
“Dear @meekmill, I find this line extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” Vanessa wrote. “I’m not familiar with your music, but I think you can do better than this.”
“If you’re a fan that’s fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband,” she continued. “This lacks respect and tact.”
Mill previously shot down critics who criticized the lyrics, tweeting on February 17, “Somebody promote a narrative and everyone follows it …. all the antics on the internet can’t stop me …. it’s like zombie land or something! Lol.”
He then i wrote, “People text me saying don’t let the network get you down hahaha. I say don’t let this get you down. I didn’t even see that shit, probably not Gem Stone will live right now.”
However, Mill’s response to the criticism seemed to become more intense after Vanessa’s post. Shortly after she shared her comments, Mill tweeted, “I’m going to get wild on this shit … f #% k ya feelings!”
It’s unclear if the tweet was directed at Vanessa or someone in particular, though many commenters assumed, considering the timing, that it was her reaction.
Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed, along with six other passengers and the pilot, in a tragic helicopter crash on January 26 in Calabasas, California.
Vanessa has often posted memorials celebrating the legacies of her late husband and daughter, and has worked to keep her memories alive with moving tributes and poignant throwback messages. Watch the video below to learn more about his efforts to honor Kobe’s life.
