Vanderpump Rules returns for season 9. Bravo confirmed that the reality series, which details the drama at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR and Tom Tom restaurants in Los Angeles, will resume production next month.
Vanderpump will be joined by Tom Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Ariana Maddix, Scheana Shay, Lala Kent, James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss, who are returning for the show’s ninth season.
Last summer, Bravo and the production company behind the show, Evolution, chose to fire their co-stars Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute, citing a racially insensitive past incident the two had with their former co-star Faith Stowers. More of the show’s mainstays, Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor, announced that they were parting ways with the show in December (though it’s unclear if that was their decision, the network’s, or something in between), meaning the show has dropped to minus six cast members. heading into season 9 (Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni were also fired due to racist posts on social media). Dayna Kathan will also not be returning for the next season.
ET spoke to Vanderpump last month, where he revealed that some of the great moments fans missed during the pandemic will be shown in the upcoming season. Schroeder gave birth to a baby girl in January, Cartwright and Taylor welcomed a baby girl in April, Lala Kent welcomed their daughter, Ocean, in March and Shay is expecting a baby.
“You might see little glimpses,” Vanderpump joked about the milestones. “I think people will just be glad to see them back. You know, I love Lala, I think so, she was mischievous and was wrong sometimes, but that’s what Vanderpump Rules it is, and that is what life is. It’s about, they were young and growing and finding their way. And she’s such a lovely girl. “
While promoting his book, Give them Lala, the new mom told ET that she was ready to get back in front of the cameras.
“I’m ready. I’m excited. Mic, insanity is in my DNA,” shared Kent. “So who am I going to drag in on the first day of filming? I’m ready to go.”
While Kent originally had reservations about returning to the show so soon after giving birth, she is ready to share her baby with the world.
“Ocean will be on the show. It’s too perfect not to share it with the world,” Kent said. The reality star added that she hopes motherhood will soften her up as she prepares to return to all Vanderpump Rules drama.
“I mean I’ll be softer, but I don’t know,” he shared. “I also thought that being sober would change the way I am, and that didn’t stop me from dragging Raquel back. So I hope it softens me up, but I guess we’ll find out.”
