The first official trailer for J Balvin’s documentary, entitled “The Boy From Medellín”, now available.
In this Amazon Studios program the artist J Balvin will tell close stories of his life. The center of the documentary is the concert “El Niño e ‘Medellín” that he offered at the Atanasio Girardot stadium on November 30, 2019. Today is considered the most important show of his career, with a sold-out in his hometown.
I need my city, I need to feel this energy ”.
The preview shows the political tension and violence in the streets of Colombia, as a result of the discontent for President Iván Duque and the death of a protester. This placed the artist in a position where he had to face the decision to intervene in what he did not consider “his own”, due to the responsibility he has in front of the public.
This is in addition to J Balvin’s emotional states that include anxiety and depression.
I am honored to be able to tell my story in this way“.
J Balvin when announcing the documentary.
When does “The Boy From Medellín” premiere?
Amazon Prime Video will offer the documentary exclusively next May 7.
It bears the stamp of director Matthew Heineman, who was nominated for an Oscar for “Land of the Cartels” in 2015. He is also the winner of two Emmy Awards.
The filming was done during the hard week prior to J Balvin’s concert, so it reflects the most intimate reality of his life.
