The revival of ‘CSI’ starring William Petersen and Jorja Fox comes to CBS

CSI it’s back!

CBS has given a serial order to CSI: Vegas, a sequel series to the chain’s former flagship crime franchise, was announced Wednesday. Original CSI stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox will reprise their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, respectively, for the revival.

Wallace Langham will also return as David Hodges.

CSI: Vegas kicks off a new chapter of the franchise in Las Vegas, where the original series was also developed. According to the official synopsis, “In the face of an existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab, a brilliant new team of forensic investigators must welcome old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.”

“Twenty-one years ago, we launched CSI and I watched in awe as this new film series launched an entire genre and became an innovative monster that still has worldwide resonance today, ”said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment, in the announcement. “We are delighted to welcome the next generation of forensic criminologists to the CSI mark them and unite them with the legendary characters from the past that we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox. Crime fighting technology has advanced dramatically in recent years and, combined with the CSI narration, we are eager to see this new CSI the team does what they do best: follow the evidence. “

Jason Tracey will act as showrunner on CSI: Vegas, with Uta Briesewitz set to direct the first episode. Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Anthony Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Craig O’Neill, Petersen and Cindy Chvantal will all serve as executive producers.

CSI it was released in October 2000 on CBS and aired for 355 episodes over 15 seasons. Over the course of his run, several cast members left, including Petersen, who left at the end of season 9 but appeared on and off in later seasons before returning for the finale in 2015. Fox was in the entirety of CSIIt has been run, but he was in a recurring capacity half his time on the show.
