Puerto Rico will host the final of Miss World 2021. This year there will also be the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the international beauty pageant. This contest is expected to bring a $ 150 million exposure to San Juan Island.
The event will take place on December 16, 2021 at the Coca Cola Music Hall, located in the Convention District in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is expected to have an audience of 2 billion people, in more than 100 countries around the world.
In a joint effort with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, the Miss World 2021 final will make the island the center of attention internationally, and the pageant is expected to reactivate the tourism industry.
This is the first time that the Miss World final has been held in a Spanish-speaking country. “It is a great opportunity to be able to project Puerto Rico, especially in a live broadcast to an audience of 2 billion people in more than 100 countries, where the Island will be highlighted as a tourist destination,” said Stephanie Del Valle, Miss World 2016 and organizer of the final.
15 Latina women have won the Miss World pageant
In the past 69 years, 15 Latina women have won this prestigious British beauty pageant. Among the winning countries are Venezuela, country that has won six times, Puerto Rico, with two, like Peru and Argentina. The Dominican Republic, Brazil and Mexico they have had a winner.
To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the contest, all the queens from previous years will be invited. The participation of around 120 contestants is expected to be in Puerto Rico from November 19 to December 17, 2021.
Miss World is the oldest and most prestigious international beauty pageant, created in 1951. The current Miss World is Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica. Ann-Singh has been the queen since 2019, since the contest was postponed in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
