Taylor Swift is celebrating a sweet fan project. On Friday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Emerson Weber, an 11-year-old girl from South Dakota, appears with her father, Hugh Weber, and reveals that she received a letter from Taylor herself.
It all started in May, when Hugh’s Twitter thread about Emerson went viral. In the thread, Hugh revealed that his daughter has “a serious habit of writing letters,” one that she maintains with “more than a dozen” people.
When Emerson sends letters, his proud father wrote, she decorates both the note and the envelope, including personal details and jokes, asking questions, and talking about her love for Taylor Swift.
With all his letters written, Emerson decided to write one to his postman to express his appreciation for getting his notes to their recipients. He shared the letter with his supervisor, and soon postal workers across the country wrote to Emerson.
Taylor heard of Emerson’s sweet gesture and kindly returned it, a fact Emerson calls “crazy.”
“I received a letter from Taylor Swift. It was very personal and she wrote it by hand. She decorated the envelope with this [painting]. It took a long time and he put a lot of his heart, as I like to do, in the letter he sent me, “says Emerson.” It’s amazing and I love the menu. “
Emerson’s love for the “Willow” singer, he says, is something that postal workers across the country share.
“I’ve really learned that when you share a piece of your heart with someone, they will share it too. I like to put a lot of my heart in my letters. I ask questions, they will ask you a question.” she says. “One funny thing we’ve learned is that there are a lot of undercover Swifties in the postal service.”
“It’s kind of funny,” his father agrees. “There are a lot of 60-year-old postal administrators in states like Idaho and North Dakota who love their Taylor Swift, but wanted it to be a secret.”
