Paris Hilton continues to shed light on what she says was an abusive experience she had as a teenager while enrolled in boarding school. The 39-year-old DJ and heiress shared some photos of herself at 18 after returning home from Provo Canyon School.
“These photos were taken when I was 18 years old and I recently came home from horrible experiences at #ProvoCanyonSchool. I can see the pain in my eyes,” Hilton wrote. “I was so traumatized that I pretended that everything was fine, trying to block out the painful memories. Looking at this now, I know my teenager would be so incredibly proud of the woman I am today. Be brave and use my voice to make a difference and save to the children of having to endure the abuse myself and so many others have had to go through. #iSeeYouSurvivor #BreakingCodeSilence 🙌 “
Hilton also appeared in a webinar with the American Bar Association and Breaking the silence of the code, discussing the lasting effects of his time at school.
“I have severe post-traumatic stress disorder. I have insomnia. I have nightmares that seem so real,” shared Hilton. “I have confidence issues, depression, a lot of issues that stem from that.”
Hilton previously documented the incident in his 2020 documentary, This is Paris, claiming that his time at the school was “torture.”
“The staff said terrible things. They constantly made me feel bad about myself and bullied me, “Hilton said.” I think their goal was to break us. And they were physically abusive, beating us and strangling us. They wanted to instill fear in the children so that we would be too afraid to disobey them. “
After the accusations, People contacted the school for comment and received this response: “Originally opened in 1971, the Provo Canyon School was sold by its previous owner in August 2000. Therefore, we are unable to comment on the operations or the patient experience before of this moment”.
