The 90 minute special is called: “Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special.” It will air on March 7, CBS announced Monday. Winfrey knows the couple well since she attended their wedding in 2018 and lives near them in California.
“Winfrey will speak to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, at a large-scale interview that will cover everything. From her entry into life as royalty, her marriage, motherhood and her philanthropic work to how she leads her life under intense public pressure, ”CBS noted.
“Later, the two will be joined by Prince Harry to discuss his move to America and his future hopes and dreams for his expanding family.”
The decision to speak publicly comes a year after the couple announced that they had decided to leave their life as royalty and work to become financially independent.
Speculation begins about the content of the interview with Meghan and Harry
It is not known if Harry and Meghan informed the royal family of their plans to be interviewed. For the time being, Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
Jonny Dymond, a royal correspondent for the BBC, said they will start “Three weeks of frenzied speculation” about the content of the interview. “We hope to see what kind of secrets are revealed over the last two or three years ”. Dymond described Winfrey as “a very close acquaintance” of the royal couple and who had apparently been “searching” for the interview “for some time.”
Meanwhile, press reports on Tuesday suggested that the duke and duchess will lose their remaining royal patronages. Harry will also lose his three honorary military titles.
On Sunday, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed that the couple are expecting their second child. Her firstborn Archie, was born in 2019.
