Steve Kornacki wasn’t ready to become a Chartthrob. The MSNBC host is now a sensation on Twitter after his constant election coverage of days in the middle of the 2020 presidential race. Celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Billy Eichner voiced their support for the journalist, while social media gave him the nickname of Chartthrob.
During an appearance in The Kelly Clarkson ShowKornacki says her sudden stardom on social media “was not something she expected.”
“We were so busy looking at the election results Tuesday night, Wednesday night, election week, and my friends and family started sending me these messages. They had to translate some of them,” he admits. “I didn’t really understand what was happening, but it was quite an experience.”
However, Kornacki didn’t have time to take it all in, as he worked virtually non-stop from Election Day Tuesday to Saturday, when the race for President-elect Joe Biden was called.
“I was in the studio around 5 in the morning on election day. We spent all day, all night, we spent the night. I think at one point it was about 50 hours straight,” he said. “I took a couple of naps during the week. It’s so fuzzy.”
“I remember I left there [when] “We finally called the elections at noon on Saturday,” Kornacki continued. “When I got home, I fell asleep around 6:30 PM on Saturday and woke up at 10:45 AM on Sunday, which is the longest period I’ve ever slept in my life.”
