Mike Myers and Dana Carvey brought their iconic Wayne’s world characters come to life with the help of Cardi B.
The comedians once again took Wayne and Garth’s shoes for the Uber Eats Super Bowl commercial. ET’s Kevin Frazier spoke to the two old friends and ex Saturday night live cast members on meeting and working with rapper “Up.”
“She was lovely and very funny and very beautiful, and she came to play,” Myers said of Cardi. “I loved working with her.
“She had such a funny and quirky vibe about her and she made me laugh a lot,” Carvey added. “It was like the past and the present, and all this culture shock, it was interesting. I asked him how many Instagram followers he had, he showed me his phone and it said 81 million. I said, ‘Oh, okay. OK.”
Her business programs “are just a local access program” that encourages people to support local restaurants amid the pandemic, “with a little help from her local friend Cardi B.”
“They are supporting local restaurants,” Myers said. “For Dana and me it was an opportunity to hang out again and help out.”
Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Wayne’s world. When asked how that milestone makes them feel, Myers replied, “It makes me very proud. We had a great time doing it.”
“That question and looking at Mike gave me the creeps,” Carvey added. “To be a part of this movie, that now the young people who saw it after it was made and it resonated with them and still want to see it, I would just call it surreal.”
Myers recalled seeing the movie with his three children recently, sharing: “They saw it and on ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ [scene] when it starts (starts singing) and I just thought… I wonder if they will. And indeed …[they start banging their heads] And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s it [awesome]! First of all, where am I, who am I? That was very, very rewarding. “
ET was in the Wayne’s world set before they had the slightest idea the comedy would debut at number one at the box office.
“Basically, everyone wants to live in Wayne’s world rather than the world as it is,” a young Carvey told ET during the set visit.
As for repeating Wayne and Garth one more time for SNL, both are in favor.
“I hope so. We did 40 and that was really, really fun,” Carvey said, with Myers joking, “I’d like to do 90. That’s how I’d like to do it.”
“I’m going to keep my dermatologist employed and on call,” Carvey added. “And I’m going to hydrate and I’m going to keep my chin up.”
