Danger! has announced its final guest hosts to close season 37 of the trivia game show. The show’s Instagram account announced the lineup on Wednesday, which includes television personalities Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, David Faber, Joe Buck and LeVar Burton.
“We can finally tell you! Here’s the latest group of invited hosts to close Season 37: Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, David Faber, Joe Buck and LeVar Burton! Link in bio for more information,” shared the official page of the program.
All stars will be hosts in an effort to raise money for charities of their choice. When the stars run an episode, the accumulated proceeds from all contests competing that week will be donated to charities selected by the invited hosts.
Burton was the subject of a viral social media campaign endorsing him as the longtime successor to host Alex Trebek. “This is something that I really think is a good idea,” said the actor and educator. USA TODAY last week during an appearance on an episode of The Mothership Podcast. “I think it fits well with what the program is, what it requires and what I feel I bring to the table.”
More than 200,000 fans have signed a Change.org petition supporting his offer. Burton took to Twitter after the news of his guest announcement, thanking fans for their passionate support.
“THANK YOU … to all of you for your passionate support! I am delighted, excited and eager to host Jeopardy! And I will do my best to live up to your faith in me. A DIFFERENCE! Go ahead and trust at my word, this time, “he wrote alongside the ad.
The latest batch of celebrity presenters joins previously announced alternate presenters Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who were appointed as future guest trivia teachers in February.
Mayim Bialik, Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers and Bill Whitaker also replaced Ken Jennings – the Danger! Champion took over as the first guest host after Trebek’s death in November.
Jennings, who recently joined the show as a consulting producer, paid tribute to Trebek’s legacy each night during his farewell after Final Jeopardy.
“Thanks for watching and thanks Alex,” Jennings says during the closing moments of each episode.
The show is still looking for a permanent host and hopes they find the perfect fit with one of their guest hosts.
“Our goal has been to introduce a wide variety of guest hosts with varying abilities and backgrounds on our journey toward finding a permanent host,” Executive Producer Mike Richards said in a statement. “Our passionate fans are telling us what they like and we are listening. All of the guest hosts have brought individualism, energy and a genuine love for our show to each of their episodes. We look forward to sharing the rest of the season with our viewers.”
