LeAnn Rimes is bringing it back to Ugly coyote – with the help of Katharine McPhee.
Singer and actress I can not fight the moonlight in a special cameo in her husband Eddie Cibrian’s new Netflix comedy, Comfort in the field, and only ET premieres the exclusive preview of Rimes’ musical guest appearance.
Comfort in the field follows Bailey (McPhee), a young aspiring country singer whose career and personal life is suddenly derailed, and finds herself taking a job as a babysitter for widowed cowboy Beau (Cibrian) and his five children. With a never-give-up attitude and southern charm, the rookie babysitter navigates complicated family dynamics and becomes the mother figure they’ve missed. To her surprise, Bailey also gets the band that was lost to the talented musical family that helped her get back on the road to stardom.
In the exclusive ET clip, Rimes joins in an impromptu performance of “Can’t Fight the Moonlight,” one of three songs he originally performed for the 2000 film’s soundtrack. Ugly coyote. Of course, Rimes doesn’t miss a beat.
And it only gets better when McPhee, appropriately sporting a LeAnn Rimes fan tee with “LeAnn Freakin ‘Rimes” stamped on it, jumps in to add her own impressive voice. Look at the scene above.
During a recent interview about Zoom, Cibrian revealed how Rimes’ cameo came about, saying it was partly due to how much fun he was having doing. Comfort in the field.
“Before the pandemic, he would come and watch the first two episodes. He really liked the show. He didn’t hesitate at all,” Cibrian told ET’s Katie Krause when asked to appear by the 38-year-old singer. “She said, ‘I’d love to do it.’
McPhee added that “it was great” that Rimes appeared in an episode of the Ugly coyote moment of recoil. “That was a fun episode. It was a good time,” agreed Cibrian. “He had a great time. I think the audience will watch that episode and enjoy it too.”
Comfort in the field comes out Friday, March 19 on Netflix.
