Kristen Bell is clearing up her and husband Dax Shepard’s candid comments about their marriage. The A-list couple always keeps it real when it comes to their personal life, and that led to one commenter’s confusion.
A commenter was confused when he saw a post on the account of Pop culture about the new mural at Shepard’s Top gear van, which Bell called “misogynistic.” The van features a shirtless Shepard with an impressive six-pack wielding a sword while scantily clad Bell clings to his leg.
Shepard’s quote in the post read: “I was not thrilled with the level of ‘female empowerment’ that was displayed on that mural. It’s understandable.”
The commenter wrote in the post: “Every piece of news I see about them talks about how they just can’t stand each other, they fight constantly, now this guy is apparently objectifying her too. What’s the point? Straight people are so tragic.”
Bell responded to the comment, writing, “We adore each other, we just try to always be honest about how marriage, or company in any form, is difficult at times. You can’t always be in control, or be right, and it’s important. for us who lead with the honesty that your ‘perfect match’ is a myth. You have to work hard to love yourself and love other humans. Xo. ”
Shepard recently reflected the sentiment during an interview on Sunday today with Willie Geist, saying, “We don’t want anyone to think that we met and it has been easy, because if that is the expectation of a relationship and certainly a marriage, it is a bad expectation.”
It’s been a bumpy year for the couple as Shepard opened up about a relapse last September after 16 years of sobriety. Check out the clip below for more information:
