Kris Jenner gives divorce advice amid Kim Kardashian and Kanye West split

Kris Jenner shares her personal divorce advice amid the separation of her daughter, Kim Kardashian, from Kanye West. In a new interview with WSJ MagazineJenner said children come first.

“I think the most important thing I learned through my experience, from my two experiences, is that children come first,” shared the family matriarch. “I think if you keep that in the front of your mind, and you know that they will help you get by, that love will get you through, no matter how much it hurts.”

Jenner said that while difficult, divorces can get pretty “silly.”

“It can get really silly. And by silly, I mean the things that we submit ourselves to and sometimes focus on, that’s so unnecessary, I think you really have to try to focus on what’s the priority,” he explained . “And for me, even at the very young age I was at the time, I felt like I knew that this great responsibility fell on me.”

The mom hopes that the example she showed her children of the shared parenting relationship and friendship she had with their late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., will help guide them in their relationships. Jenner was married to Kardashian from 1978 to 1991. His subsequent marriage to Caitlyn Jenner lasted from 1991 to 2015.

Earlier this week, West responded to Kardashian’s petition for divorce, more than a month after the reality TV star filed for divorce.

In Kardashian’s divorce filing, she requested joint legal and physical custody of her four children: North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1. A source told ET at the time that West was fine with the Union. custody agreement and the two agree to be parents together. The source also noted that neither of them plan to challenge their prenup and that they are already in the process of reaching a property settlement agreement.

West’s response also calls for joint legal and physical custody of the children, and calls for an end to the court’s ability to award spousal support and attorneys’ fees to either party. While Kardashian had referenced her prenuptial agreement in her filing, West said separate ownership is yet to be determined based on the evidence at the time of trial or settlement.

“Kim filing for divorce from Kanye is just a formal part of the process,” a source told ET about the separation. “The couple has broken up for a while and they have been friendly for a while. At the end of the day, Kanye and Kim love each other immensely, but they knew it was time to drop everything. Their children are their number one priority and no matter what they will support. a positive relationship for them. “
