Ella Emhoff has made her runway debut! The 21-year-old daughter of second gentleman Doug Emhoff and vice president Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, modeled in Proenza Schouler’s visual presentation at New York Fashion Week, which launched Thursday.
For the brand’s latest showcase, Ella sported a number of sleek styles. One look included an oversized gray pantsuit with a floor-length coat that featured a shearling collar. She also wore a black leather trench coat with a yellow and black patterned dress, black stockings, and white strappy heels. She also closed the video of Proenza Schouler wearing an elegant black suit without a top.
“She represents the story we wanted to tell with the collection. It is the beginning of a completely new chapter in the history of the United States, in the type of clothing that we wear and that attracts us. She is the breath of fresh air”, designer Lázaro Hernandez said World Water Day about Ella’s choice.
Co-designer Jack McCollough added: “She’s next-gen, she goes to Parsons, which is our alma mater, she’s a fine arts student interested in knitwear, and she’s someone we’d hang out with.”
This came weeks after Ella signed with IMG Models, after making fashion headlines on opening day. For her stepmom’s special day, she wore a stunning Miu Miu tartan coat with crystal inlaid shoulders and a Batsheva dress.
She is a student at Parsons School of Design in New York. As a young designer, she had been modeling with a smaller agency before her big new deal.
