Joshua Bassett jokes that he was named in the sketch for ‘SNL’ over Olivia Rodrigo’s song, ‘Drivers License’

What a roller coaster of emotions. Joshua Bassett has responded to being mentioned in a sketch in Saturday night live this weekend, and it’s clear he really doesn’t know how to feel about it.

The sketch in question revolved around a group of boys in a pool hall listening to Olivia Rodrigo’s hit “License to drive.”

Host Regé-Jean Page led a chant to the hit tune after all the guys in the bar discussed the intricacies of the lyrics and fan theories that Rodrigo wrote the song about Bassett, his alleged ex, after his breaking off.

Bassett took to TikTok on Sunday to share a funny video that shows him with excitement upon hearing that he was mentioned on SNL the previous night.

Opening his laptop, Bassett looks at the part of the sketch where Mikey Day’s character says it relates to the song, because for him, “My ex Gina is Joshua Bassett.”

Hearing the line, Bassett closes his laptop and stares at the camera as Kacey Musgraves’s “Happy & Sad” plays in the background.

“A dream come true?” the actor and musician captioned the funny post.

While Bassett might have been in conflict with the sketch, Rodrigo, who also celebrated his 18th birthday on Saturday, was delighted.

“SNL SKETCH DRIVER’S LICENSE IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT I EVER TAKE,” he tweeted after the sketch aired.
