Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez officially separated and released a joint statement: ‘We wish the best for each other’

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have separated. After a two-year engagement and four years of dating, the couple officially broke up, they revealed in a joint statement to ET.

“We have realized that we are better as friends and we hope to continue being that,” said the former couple. “We will continue to work together and support each other in our shared businesses and projects.”

“We wish each other the best and each other’s children,” they continued about López’s 13-year-old twins, Emme and Max, and Rodríguez’s daughters, Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12. “Out of respect to them, the only other comment we have to say is thanks to everyone who has sent kind words and support. ”

Before their split, multiple sources told ET on March 12 that the two had called off their engagement, with one source noting that the 45-year-old former baseball professional and the 51-year-old triple threat star had decided on their relationship. “had run its course.” However, a day later, a source told ET that the two were continuing their relationship and “working things out”, and that “there was no third party involved.”

Later, another source told ET that López and Rodríguez’s children wanted them to figure things out.

López and Rodríguez’s relationship has not been without its ups and downs. Earlier this year, rumors spread that Rodriguez had been talking to Southern charm star Madison LeCroy.
