Jean Trebek is speaking after the November death of her husband, Alex Trebek. The couple married in 1990 and shared two children.
Now, in his first televised interview since Danger! Upon the presenter’s death, 56-year-old Jean opens up about what it meant to both her and the television personality to gain the support of her fans during her battle with cancer.
Jean talks to Savannah Guthrie for the NBC News special, Inspirational America: The 2021 Inspiration Checklist, and a preview clip of the interview was featured on Wednesday Today Show.
“I think right now, talking to you, I’m fine,” he says. “I absolutely have moments of waves of pain that wash over me. I miss him so much.”
She said she was amazed at the great amount of love and support her husband received following his diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer.

Alex went public with his battle with cancer in March 2019, but continued to host the popular game show in the midst of treatment.
